Course Content:

  • How to profile an audience and construct a presentation that they want to hear
  • Anatomy of presentation / Sales pitch
  • How to build and structure a presentation depending on your aim
  • How to open a presentation, building credibility and capturing interest immediately
  • Handling Q&A’s and audience reaction
  • Physical presence – how to deliver a presentation stance and posture, tone of voice, language
  • how to present as a team, communicating chemistry and avoiding pitfalls

Learning Outcomes:

  • Structure your presentation around the key questions your audience want answered
  • Storyboard, outline and refine a presentation to ensure it flows and tells an impactful story
  • Identify how to stand and move properly presenting
  • Deal with nerves and master that difficult opening first slide
  • Use your voice to its capacity
  • Use advanced rhetorical techniques to stand out from the crowd
  • Present as a coherent team

Trainer Profiles:

Michael Clancy is MD at Mediavest where he has worked for 10 years. He began his career with Carat, before working in Mindshare and Mediavest. He lectures in Professional Development on the Postgraduate Diploma in Advertising and Digital Studies in DIT is chair of the Marketing Society and a frequent speaker at conferences. Michael is a regular contributor, sometimes provocatively to industry debate. Michael is also the IAPI representative on the Management and Technical committees of the JNLR. He holds an honours degree in Communications Studies from DCU and has extensive client experience working across all sectors, including RSA, Three, Ulster Bank, Aer Lingus, ESB & Electric Ireland, Nissan Kelloggs and Heineken.

Helen O’Rourke is Client Director at MediaVest where she has worked for 11 years. She began her career in media in 2001 at Universal McCann working on a number of accounts including Fáilte Ireland and ESB. She joined MediaVest in 2006 and has held a senior role on several accounts including O2, ESB and Electric Ireland, Bord Bia and the DAA. Recent client campaigns include several public information campaigns such as safety messages for ESB Networks and regional advertising for niche groups of women with the Cervical and Breast Check campaigns for the HSE.
